OnePlus’ 2019 Flagship Confirmed to be 5G Device Powered by Snapdragon 855

Even though we’re only through the first week of December, OnePlus is already getting ready to brace the new year with a 5G flagship smartphone, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855.

At the Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Summit 2018 held in Hawaii on Dec. 5, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau announced that the company will be the first to release a 5G commercial smartphone in Europe.

The 5G smartphone will be available starting in 2019 with British mobile network operator EE, the largest telecommunications provider in the UK, with over 29.6 million customers and largest operator of 4G services in Europe.

The first launch cities will be the UK’s four capital cities – London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, and Belfast – and Birmingham and Manchester.

“Adding 5G to the UK’s number one 4G network will increase reliability, increase speeds, and keep our customers connected where they need it most,” says Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s Consumer brands.

Aside from the cooperation to launch the next new OnePlus flagship, OnePlus and EE are working on an R&D partnership to ensure the best possible 5G connected experience for customers.

“The pursuit of speed has defined the OnePlus DNA since OnePlus was founded five years ago,” explained Pete at the Qualcomm summit.
