Xiaomi to Launch the First POCO Phone This Month after Leaked Unboxing Video

Xiaomi is set to unveil its first smartphone under the POCO by Xiaomi sub-brand in New Delhi, India on August 22. Branded as “Master of Speed”, the new POCO F1 is said to share many features of the flagship Xiaomi Mi 8.

Videos were leaked before the debut such as an unboxing video showed its display notch and dual rear camera setup. Not many details about its specifications have been disclosed, what is known about the POCO F1 is that it will use the Snapdragon 845 SoC which powers the Mi 8 and other Xiaomi phones. It has a 4000 mAh battery, a 20-megapixel selfie camera, and IR face unlock.

A 3.5mm audio jack is installed at the top and a USB Type-C port at the bottom. Two different storage options of 64GB and 128GB will also debut with the launch.

Another recent leak shows that the POCO F1 running the AnTuTu benchmark and its score of 258,149 points in the benchmark. The top score till the end of July was about 290,000 points generated by the Xiaomi Black Shark.

POCO’s launch is believed to be Xiaomi‘s plan after Samsung took over the dominant place in the Indian market in the second quarter this year.

Prices of the POCO F1 in the Indian market may also be given at the formal launch next week. Jai Mani, Xiaomi‘s lead product manager and former Google executive, will host the New Delhi event.
