NIO Builds 205 Power Swap Stations on Expressways
Chinese electric vehicle maker NIO announced on Wednesday that it has put into service over 205 expressway power swap stations which cover more than 20,000 kilometers of roadways in the country.
On September 21, 2021, NIO released its expressway power network plan in which the company planned to lay out a total of 169 expressway power swap stations. The number of stations included 5 vertical expressways, 3 horizontal expressways and 4 expressways within the metropolitan area, including Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Greater Bay Area and Chengdu-Chongqing.
With the official opening of power network on the G15 Shenyang-Haikou Expressway on Tuesday, NIO‘s expressway power swap network plan was officially completed. Now there are 36 power swap stations along the power swap network of NIO on the G15 Shenyang-Haikou Expressway, with a station located every 115 kilometers. Its opening also makes it more convenient for users in Liaoning, Hainan and others on that travel route.
On June 15, NIO released its first five-seat SUV – the ES7. There are three models of the new car that range from 468,000 yuan ($69,685.2) to 548,000 yuan ($81,597.2). The car will begin deliveries on August 28. In May 2022, NIO delivered a total of 7,024 new cars, showing both year-on-year and month-on-month growth. As of May 31, NIO has delivered 204,936 new cars to date.

NIO has built 900 power swap stations, 745 supercharging stations and 4,132 supercharging piles in the Chinese market. NIO said that it will continue to lay out and pursue the goal of building more than 1,300 power swap stations and more than 6,000 supercharging piles in the Chinese market throughout 2022.
