Xiaomi to Host a Launch Event in the UK on November 8

Yesterday Xiaomi announced on Facebook via a teaser image that the company will be hosting an event on Nov. 8 in London.

In the announcement, Xiaomi said that the launch event will be the company’s first in the UK. The teaser image strongly hinted at a smartphone with an in-display fingerprint scanner to be unveiled. Although the exact model still remains unknown, many are already speculating that the products could either be the recently announced Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 or the Xiaomi Mi 8.

The event will be livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube at 2 p.m. London local time (GMT).

The company has already confirmed that the UK mobile operator, Three, will carry its devices in store and online from Nov. 9 onwards.

In addition to the UK launch event, Xiaomi is also planning a launch event in New York City on Dec. 8. Details were shared in a post on Reddit, with a link to register for the event. However, the company did not disclose which products would be featured at the NYC event.

By breaking into the UK and US markets, the company will be able to greatly raise its brand awareness and allow more North American and UK citizens to get in touch with the company’s products. Xiaomi already has a few of his house appliance products in the US, but has never officially released a flagship smartphone before.
