Xiaomi’s Launch Event in London, Unveiling Mi 8 Pro
Xiaomi held a launch event in London on Nov. 8 local time, marking its next step in the European market. Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi 8 Pro and Redmi 6A are expected to be launched in U.K.

Mi 8 Pro, the highlight among the three products, has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, with a 6.21” custom AMOLED display. With in-screen fingerprint sensors, the phone also supports infrared facial unlock.
In terms of industrial design, Mi 8 Pro has transparent titanium coloring, with red coloring in button and cameras. It uses a 4-sided curved glass design with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
In phototaking, the phone is equipped with AI-infused rear-facing 12MP dual cameras of massive 14 µm pixels, which achieve increased light intake, as well as a 20MP front camera.
Xiaomi Band 3 fitness tracker and the Mi electric scooter also debuted at the launch event. The Xiaomi Band 3 has up to 20 days of battery life and is water resistant up to 50 meters. It does activity tracking and health management.
Mi 8 Pro sells at £499.99 (4540 yuan). The Xiaomi Band 3 is priced at £26.99 (245 yuan), and Mi electric Scooter is priced at £399 (3632 yuan).
Xiaomi is also working hard on sales channels. Its smartphones are now available on Amazon, Argos, Carphone Warehouse and Currys PC World. Xiaomi has also established partnership with CK Hutchinson, the parent company of British operator Three.
According to data of Q3 2018 from International Data Corporation (IDC), it has become the forth largest smartphone manufacturer around the globe in terms of shipments and market share. It is also one of the top four smartphone vendors in the European market, ranking next to Samsung, Huawei and Apple, but has the highest year-on-year growth.
