NIO Builts Over 10,000 NEV Charging Piles in China
On July 29, Shanghai-based new energy vehicle company NIO announced the total number of its charging piles across China reaches over 10,000, covering 269 cities, following the commissioning of a super-charging station at the Shuguang Technology Building in Shenzhen.
On August 22, 2018, NIO launched the first destination charging station in Chengdu. On July 9, 2019, NIO launched the first super-charging station in Suzhou. Now, NIO has built a total of 1,039 exchange stations (including 264 highway exchange stations) and 1,757 charging stations (10,071 charging piles) in the Chinese market, with access to more than 550,000 third-party charging piles.
NIO opens its chargers to all NEVs and has provided over 9.6 million individual charging services, with an average of 30,000 services per day. Over 80% of the charging capacity is provided by non-NIO brands. The NIO app has now accumulated more than 950,000 real user reviews, making it the most recognized platform for electric mobility planning.
On July 6 this year, the firm held NIO Power Day 2022, reviewing the full-scenario power addition services since NIO Power started four years ago. It also announced plans to build a high-speed power exchange network covering nine vertical, nine horizontal and 19 urban clusters, third-generation power exchange stations and 500kW super-charge piles by 2025.

Qin Lihong, President of NIO, said that the firm intends to launch new charging facilities, such as liquid-cooled super-fast charging piles with 500kW peak power and 650A peak current and third-generation switching stations, from the end of this year to the beginning of next year.
The third generation of these power exchange stations has reached the sample station testing stage and will hopefully support the 800V high-voltage platform. In terms of the 800V high-voltage platform battery pack and supporting power exchange system, NIO has announced it will open the related facilities to the whole industry.
