Huawei Reports $44.73 Billion H1 Revenue
Shenzhen-based Huawei announced its business results for the first half of 2022 on August 12. The company has indicated that overall performance was in line with forecasts.
In the first half of 2022, Huawei generated 301.6 billion yuan ($44.73 billion) in revenue, with a net profit margin of 5.0%. The Carrier BG contributed 142.7 billion yuan, the Enterprise BG 54.7 billion yuan, and the Device BG 101.3 billion yuan.
By contrast, Huawei’s Carrier BG, Enterprise BG and Device BG achieved revenue of 136.9 billion yuan, 42.9 billion yuan and 135.7 billion yuan in the first half of last year respectively.
“While our device business was heavily impacted, our ICT infrastructure business maintained steady growth,” said Ken Hu, Huawei’s Rotating Chairman. “Moving forward, we will harness trends in digitalization and decarbonization to keep creating value for our customers and partners, and secure quality development.”
In April, Huawei rebranded its consumer business as a terminal business to expand beyond phones into more commercial channels such as hardware, intelligent vehicles, and its HarmonyOS software. HarmonyOS, for example, has been put into use on more than 300 million devices, and HarmonyOS 3 will be available in September.
TrendForce estimated that in 2022, Huawei, Ericsson, Nokia will occupy 74.5% of the global base station market, with a market share of 29%, 24%, 21.5% respectively. Among them, Huawei has been deploying its products and services in a variety of regions and countries around the world, including in South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Vietnam, Brazil and other markets. Recently, the company has cooperated with South African operators such as MTN and Rain to build more than 2,500 5G base stations.
Huawei’s enterprise business is mainly oriented to the digital field, which is also one of the main growth areas for the company. The company been setting up several legions to work together with major business lines.
In addition, Huawei’s smart car business is attracting much attention. In the past three months, three models co-developed by Huawei and its automobile enterprises have been released successively, such as the new HI version of the Arcfox Alpha S in May, AITO M7 in July, and Avatr 11 on August 8. Huawei is also investing heavily in its auto business, with research costs in the field increasing by 50% year-on-year to 1.5 billion yuan this year, and over 7,000 auto R&D staff.
