Tesla China Cuts Delivery Time for Rear-Wheel Drive Model Y to 4-8 Weeks
Tesla China’s website now shows that estimated delivery times for the rear-wheel drive version Model Y have been shortened from 8-12 weeks to 4-8 weeks.
Apart from this particular model, the Tesla China website shows that expected delivery dates for the Tesla Model Y long-range version and high-performance version and the Model 3 entry-level model are 16-20 weeks, 12-16 weeks and 12-16 weeks respectively.
The Model Y rear-wheel drive version serves as the entry model, and is priced at 316,900 yuan ($46,653). It has a combined CLTC range of 545 km, a top speed of 217 km/h, and a 100 km acceleration of 6.9 seconds.
Just last week, Tesla China shortened the estimated delivery time for the rear-wheel drive version of the Model Y to 8-12 weeks from the previous 10-14 weeks. This may be due to the increased capacity of the production line at Tesla’s Gigafactory Shanghai, following recent upgrades.
In July this year, Tesla suspended most production at its sprawling Shanghai facility for the implementation of upgrades. Tesla disclosed in its financial report for Q2 of 2022 that the annual production capacity of Gigafactory Shanghai had exceeded 750,000 vehicles, making it Tesla largest vehicle factory for the first time. Gigafactory Shanghai delivers two models: Model 3s and Model Ys.
