NETA Auto Tops Delivery Volume Ranking of Chinese NEV Companies in August
On September 1, mainstream Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) enterprises announced their delivery results for the month of August. According to the published data, most enterprises have achieved year-on-year sales growth. Among them, three new players have achieved a monthly delivery of over 10,000 vehicles, two fewer than that of last month.
In August, the delivery volume of NETA Auto was 16,000 units, an increase of 142% year-on-year, ranking first in the delivery list of new Chinese carmakers in the month. From January to August this year, the cumulative delivery volume of NETA Auto was about 93,200 vehicles, up 176% year-on-year. Zhang Yong, co-founder and CEO of NETA Auto, said earlier that it is estimated that by September this year, its cumulative delivery will exceed 200,000 vehicles.
Leapmotor ranked second in the delivery list in August with a delivery volume of about 12,500 vehicles, with a year-on-year increase of over 179%. Its monthly delivery has reached a new high for four consecutive months. From January to August this year, Leapmotor delivered more than 76,000 units.
NIO delivered about 10,700 new vehicles in August, an increase of 81.6% year-on-year, ranking third. From January to August this year, NIO delivered a total of about 91,600 new vehicles, up 28.3% year-on-year.
XPeng Motors delivered a total of 9,578 new vehicles in August, an increase of 33% year-on-year, ranking fourth. Among them, 5,745 vehicles were the XPeng P7, 2,678 vehicles were XPeng P5 and 1155 vehicles were from the XPeng G3 series of models. Since the beginning of this year, XPeng Motors has delivered more than 90,000 vehicles, nearly doubling the numbers the company posted at the same time last year.
In August, Li Auto delivered about 4,571 new cars, down 51.54% year-on-year, ranking fifth. Since its delivery, the cumulative delivery volume of Li Auto has reached nearly 200,000 units.

In addition, among the NEV enterprises that have announced their sales volumes, GAC AION has become the only enterprise with a delivery volume exceeding 20,000 vehicles. It is a marque established by traditional carmaker Guangzhou Automobile Corporation (GAC), so it is not in the list mentioned above. According to official data, GAC AION sold about 27,000 vehicles in August, up 133% year-on-year, and accumulated sales of 152,300 vehicles from January to August, up 134% year-on-year.
According to the latest data released by Zeekr, a high-end electric vehicle brand established by Geely, in August this year, 7,166 Zeekr 001 vehicles were delivered, an increase of 42.7% from the previous month. At the same time, in August, the order volumes (non-refundable deposits of 5,000 yuan) of the Zeekr 001 continued to exceed 10,000. According to Zeekr, the average large order amount for the company’s flagship exceeds 336,000 yuan.
HUAWEI and SERES’s high-end EV brand AITO achieved a delivery volume of over 10,000 units for the first time in August. According to official data, the delivery volume of the AITO M series models exceeded 10,000 vehicles in August, an increase of about 38.97% from the previous month. The M5 will be officially released on September 6, and will be the first pure EV model of the series.
According to data released by the China Passenger Car Association, it is estimated that the retail sales of passenger cars will reach 1.88 million in August this year, up 29.6% year-on-year and 3.4% quarter-on-quarter. Among them, the retail sales volume of new energy passenger cars reached 520,000, up 108.3% year-on-year and 7% quarter-on-quarter, with a penetration rate of 27.7%.
