BYD Seal 06 GT Officially Announced to Debut on August 30
On August 23, Zhang Zhuo, General Manager of BYD‘s Ocean Network Sales Division, announced that the concept car OCEAN-M, which debuted at the Beijing Auto Show, has been officially named ‘Seal 06 GT.’ The vehicle is positioned as a battery electric mid-size sedan, built on the e platform 3.0 Evo.
Zhang Zhuo stated that this car combines several world-first technologies from BYD, delivering excellent performance in aesthetics, safety, comfort, intelligence, and efficiency. The car will officially debut at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 30. In the official poster shared by Zhang Zhuo, the car is claimed to be “the first GT for young people”.
Previously, BYD officially referred to this car as the “industry’s first two-door rear-wheel drive pure electric sports car.” This vehicle has completed the declaration in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, with dimensions of 4630/1880/1490 millimeters and a wheelbase of 2820 millimeters. It will offer two specifications for wheels: 18 inches and 19 inches, with optional chrome trim for the side skirts, front radar, and wheels.
In terms of power, the new car adopts two power layouts: single motor rear-wheel drive and dual motor all-wheel drive. The single motor version offers two different power levels, with maximum powers of 160 kilowatts and 165 kilowatts, respectively. The dual motor version is equipped with a front AC asynchronous motor and a rear permanent magnet synchronous motor, with powers of 110 kilowatts and 200 kilowatts, respectively.
Earlier this month, after the launch of the 2025 BYD Seal and Seal 07 DM-i, Zhang Zhuo stated that by 2026, the Ocean network aims to complete the layout of 14 vehicle models, creating a full product matrix. Zhang Zhuo further stated that the ‘Seal’ series is not a single product but a product family, including Seal 09, Seal 08, Seal 07, Seal 06, and Seal 05, with ‘56789’ covering from Class A to Class C, catering to both EV and DM. The ‘Sea Lion’ will be a collection of all SUVs in the Ocean network and will also form a ‘56789’ product matrix.
