Cainiao Launches L4 Autonomous Vehicles for Large-Scale Delivery
During the 2024 Global Smart Logistics Summit, Cainiao Group’s CEO, Wan Lin, announced the official launch of L4 autonomous vehicles for large-scale delivery of express packages on public roads. Wan Lin shared that since starting research and operations in 2016, Cainiao has delivered over 40 million packages using these vehicles.
Wan emphasized Cainiao’s leadership in digitization and AI applications, positioning the company as a future leader in autonomous driving and automation.
Looking ahead, Wan highlighted the company’s commitment to expanding its global logistics backbone network to serve both Alibaba‘s e-commerce platform and the wider open market. He also announced plans for the second batch of eHub constructions, aimed at enhancing the integration of Cainiao’s logistics network within global and regional industrial chains.
Additionally, Wan outlined Cainiao’s goal to establish a global express network that covers China, cross-border areas, and local overseas markets, thereby supporting the development of global e-commerce. In terms of supply chain operations, Cainiao currently manages over 800,000 square meters of overseas warehouses across 18 countries and regions, providing specialized services.
