The XPeng P7+ Debuts, Positioned As the World’s First AI Car
On September 19, according to official news from XPeng Motors, the 2024 APSARA Conference hosted by Alibaba Group opened today. He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of XPeng Motors, attended the event driving the new model XPeng P7+. The XPeng P7+ is positioned as the world’s first AI car, and this is its debut appearance.
In the development plan for AI vehicles, He Xiaopeng proposed the goal of the so-called end-to-end four-part series, which involves using AI large models to achieve one iteration every two days and to provide an L3+ user experience based on L2-level intelligent driving hardware.
According to the introduction, the XPeng P7+ is currently only the first step in this plan, which is to achieve 100% intelligent driving without maps in urban areas, with end-to-end access to vehicles, and for XNGP to be usable nationwide with ease of driving throughout the journey. The second step is to double the large model data and to bridge intelligent driving gaps such as ETC and internal park scenarios, achieving door-to-door intelligent driving. The third step is to increase the parameter count of the cloud-based large model by five times with each version, achieving an L3-level intelligent driving experience. The fourth step involves autonomous driving in certain low-speed scenarios.
XPeng Motors officially revealed that the entire P7+ series will debut the new generation AI Eagle Eye Vision scheme, which is the industry’s first single pixel Lofic architecture. It can adapt to changes more quickly in environments such as bright-dark light transitions, strong backlight, and low light. Compared to traditional cameras, it has more accurate, clearer, and farther information collection capabilities. The new intelligent driving scheme is not restricted by city, route, or road conditions, featuring ‘door-to-door’ and ‘parking space to parking space’ functions, making it usable and easy to drive all across the country.
In terms of AI smart cockpit, the Xiaopeng P7+ will be equipped with the industry’s first in-vehicle system that fully applies AI technology — the AI Tianji system. This system, utilizing information perceived by external cameras and radar, can actively think and reason, enabling autonomous functions based on the information of the occupants, such as air conditioning or seat adjustments; it can automatically restore seat positions, adjust massage settings, and activate escort functions according to different scenarios for the owner and passengers.
The specific release date for the XPeng P7+ has not yet been announced. XPeng‘s official statement indicates that more information about the XPeng P7+ will be available in the upcoming October and November.
