Wang Hua Responds to the Launch of Xiaomi Driving School

On the evening of November 5th, in response to the rumor that “Lei Jun said Xiaomi will launch a Xiaomi Driving School,” Wang Hua, General Manager of Xiaomi‘s Public Relations Department, made a statement. He confirmed that Lei Jun did mention in recent press conferences and live broadcasts that Xiaomi plans to consider opening three types of advanced driving training courses for its car owner friends: internal advanced driving training, track driving training, and drifting training. Wang Hua further clarified that the specific fees for these trainings have not yet been determined and this matter is not directly related to a certain driving school app mentioned in some media reports. The public is requested to be informed.

Lei Jun previously mentioned the original intention of launching Xiaomi Driving School at a Xiaomi product launch event, pointing out that many people hold driver’s licenses but are not proficient in actual driving skills. Therefore, Xiaomi plans to introduce professional training including advanced driving, track driving, and drifting to enhance the driving skills of car owners. However, Lei Jun did not mention the training costs.

This news immediately sparked discussions on the internet. Many netizens joked that “Xiaomi is trying to ‘disrupt’ every industry,” “It turns out there is also investment from Xiaomi behind the driving school treasure trove,” “From Xiaomi Kindergarten to Xiaomi Driving School, Xiaomi‘s ecosystem truly covers everything,” “Looking forward to the launch of Xiaomi Driving School to address the high costs of current driving schools,” and “Driving school industry: We didn’t expect we would also become partners with Xiaomi!”.

As the discussion deepened, some media subsequently reported that the training fee for Xiaomi Driving School may be set at 1999 yuan, including all training programs. This news further sparked enthusiasm among netizens, with a large number of queries about “how to sign up for Xiaomi Driving School” appearing on social platforms. However, Wang Hua’s clarification also reminded the public that the current statement regarding training fees is just a rumor.
