Huawei Unveils Mate70 Series, Starting from $758
On November 26, Huawei hosted its Mate Brand Festival, unveiling the much-anticipated Huawei Mate70, Mate70 Pro, and Mate70 Pro+ flagship smartphones. Priced from ¥5,499 (around $758), the series introduces a suite of industry-first innovations in design, performance, and imaging, reaffirming Huawei’s leadership in smartphone technology.
The Mate 70 series flagship is “the most powerful Mate phone ever”, Richard Yu, chairman of Huawei’s consumer business group, said at the event. The lineup debuts with HarmonyOS NEXT, offering smoother animations, enhanced connectivity with Huawei devices, and boosted gaming performance via the upgraded Ark Engine.
The Mate70 series debuts the industry-first High-Gloss Titanium Basalt body with a rear cover made of brocade fiber material, offering enhanced durability and resistance to wear and drops. All models support IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance.
Each device features Huawei’s second-generation Kunlun Glass and a 1-120Hz dynamic refresh rate for smoother visuals. The Mate70 series is the first globally to introduce satellite paging technology, supporting a 120°ultra-wide satellite connection angle, 9-second fast linking, and a low latency of 0.7 seconds. Additionally, the Mate70 series features the industry’s first rear intelligent multi-antenna system, achieving a 68% increase in 5G peak speeds compared to the previous generation. It is also Huawei’s first smartphone to support Wi-Fi 7.
It features a 50MP camera system, including a 48MP telephoto lens and a 40MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The device supports 4K videography, night mode, variable aperture photography, and more. Leveraging Huawei’s in-house XMAGE imaging system, it delivers enhanced image optimization post-capture for superior visual results.
The Mate70 series introduces various AI-powered functions, including AI Dynamic Photos and AI Gesture Transfer, enhancing the user experience with smarter interactions.
