Xiaomi Auto Is Accelerating Its Overseas Expansion
Multiple sources claim that Xiaomi is preparing to launch its automotive business overseas. The international department of Xiaomi Group has set up a team to prepare for overseas sales, and is currently recruiting positions such as market research, project management, and electric vehicle after-sales engineers.
In the automotive sector, Xiaomi‘s autonomous driving department has added multiple positions for overseas markets to address regulatory validation and functional implementation of autonomous driving functions overseas. It is foreseeable that autonomous driving will be one of Xiaomi‘s key focuses in its international expansion strategy.
Reports cite insider sources as saying that once the team is established, Xiaomi will conduct small-scale car sales in various overseas locations in recent years to test market reactions and prepare for large-scale international expansion. The sales of Xiaomi cars abroad will mainly rely on Mi Home stores under the International Department. Currently, Xiaomi has over 100 direct-operated stores overseas.
In response to a question about when Xiaomi cars can be purchased in France back in July this year, Lei Jun replied: The goal is to strive to sell Xiaomi-branded cars in Europe before 2030. Judging from the speed at which the Xiaomi Automotive Overseas Team is being formed, this progress is likely to be accelerated. In July, during a Q&A session, Xiaomi Automotive stated that there are no plans to sell cars in overseas markets within the next few years.
