Xpeng and Huawei to Deepen Collaboration

On February 12, He Xiaopeng, founder and CEO of Xpeng Motors, shared a photo on a social platform with Huawei’s founder Ren Zhengfei, accompanied by a caption expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to learn from the tech giant’s leader.

“Today, I am honored to have exchanged ideas with Mr. Ren! His selflessness, wisdom, and simplicity provided profound insights on technology, enterprise, culture, and governance,” He wrote. This meeting has sparked widespread speculation about a deeper collaboration between Xpeng and Huawei, two of China’s most innovative companies.

The post quickly gained traction, with an Xpeng’s Vice President chiming in: “A cup of coffee absorbs the energy of the universe. I also have a photo with Mr. Ren, but mine was taken in a modest meeting room—nothing as grand as this. This year, Xpeng’s new products will feature in-depth collaboration with Huawei.”

Adding to the buzz, an Xpeng’s product lead for the Xpeng P/G series, hinted at future innovations.

The partnership between Xpeng and Huawei is not new. Years ago, the two companies collaborated on automotive projects, leveraging Huawei’s 5G and AI technologies. In one notable initiative, China Telecom, Huawei, and Xpeng formed a joint project team to develop an industrial AI quality inspection system for Xpeng’s vehicle assembly lines. This system, based on a “cloud-network-edge-device-application” architecture, was designed to detect installation errors in radar components for Xpeng’s P5, P7, and G3 models, regardless of vehicle color.

In 2024, Xpeng’s P7+ model became the first to integrate Huawei’s HiCar desktop, enabling seamless data flow between Huawei’s Mate 70 smartphones and Xpeng vehicles. This integration marked a significant step forward in creating a cohesive ecosystem for smart vehicles and consumer electronics.
