Huawei Registers “Hongmeng” OS Trademark Across The World

The latest hot topic to arise from the intensifying struggle between Huawei and the U.S. is the Chinese tech giant’s proprietary operating system “Hongmeng”.

The latest information on the operating system confirms that Huawei has filed the “HongMeng” trademark applications with almost every possible intellectual property organization around the globe.

According to an article published on Huawei Central, the Chinese telecommunications equipment giant has already filed trademark registration applications for “HongMeng” in several countries including Canada, Mexico, Spain, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Peru, Turkey, Philippines, and other European countries.

All trademarks, along with ones that have related names, were filed under the category of Operating System. Similar to the Chinese trademark applications, these applications also indicate support for various platforms including notebooks, smartphones, tablets, smart watches, wearables, IoT and much more.

Huawei Central’s article also indicated that the trademark “ARK OS” was not found in any other region outside of Europe, nor was the name “Oak OS” found in any intellectual property organization.

Screenshots of Hongmeng’s user interface, design, and general appearance look similar to Huawei’s EMUI. Many believe that this was done on purpose to grant Huawei users a seamless transition to the new operating system once the U.S.’s ban is fully instituted.

According to insiders, Huawei Central is not affiliated with Huawei Technologies in any way. It is an independent website run and maintained by passionate Huawei fans.
