Huawei Officially Launches 5G Version of Huawei Mate 20

On July 26, Huawei officially released the 5G version of Huawei Mate 20, the first 5G smartphone that supports dual SIM cards (one 4G and one 5G). The new phone comes in a new beautiful emerald green color with a “5G” logo printed on the back.

In terms of specs, the 5G version of Huawei Mate 20 is similar to the standard version. It adopts a 7.2-inch OLED screen with a 2244x1080p resolution, a waterdrop notch design, and features Huawei’s own Kirin 980 processor. The rear camera is still a Leica triple camera setup of 40MP+20MP+8MP. What’s different this time is that it uses a 5G baseband Baron 5000 modem, with a battery capacity reduced to 4,200 mAh (supports 40W fast charging). The phone only has one storage option of 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

At present, Huawei Mate 20 X 5G is priced at CNY6199 ($901). The phone will be up for pre-orders starting from 16:08 p.m. on July 26, and will start official sale from 10:08 a.m. Aug. 16.

In a press release posted by Huawei on July 25, the company confirmed that three mobile operators in the United Kingdom will carry one of Huawei’s first 5G smartphones. Three, Sky Mobile, and Carphone Warehouse have all confirmed that they will be selling the Mate 20 X 5G “in the coming weeks”.

In addition to the 5G version of the Mate 20 X, there are a number of new products, including the Nova 5i Pro, which will be the world’s cheapest quad-camera phone. It features a 6.26-inch IPS screen with a 2,340 x 1,080 resolution and a 7-nm Kirin 810 processor. The phone has a generous battery capacity of 3,900 mAh and supports fast charging.

Nova 5i Pro will come in three configurations: 8+128GB version priced at CNY2499 ($363) and 8+256GB version priced at CNY2799 ($407) . The 6+128GB special edition is priced at CNY2199 ($320).
