Samsung to Invest Another $8 billion in Chinese Chip Plant
According to local news on December 13, Samsung will increase its investment in its Chinese chip plant by $8 billion as the second stage of the second phase of the project.
The second stage is projected to be finished by the second half of 2021, producing 130,000 flash memory chips per month with a production value 30 billion yuan ($4.3 billion).

It will also help electronic information enterprises settle nearby in Xi’an province, which can later become the world’s largest flash memory chip plat with the highest production levels.
Samsung entered Xi’an in 2012, when the company invested $10.8 billion in the first phase of the project to build its storage plant along with a testing and packaging plant.
Prior to this $8 billion, Samsung spent $7 billion in 2017 on the first stage, which is supposed to finish construction in March 2020.
Samsung is the world’s largest flash memory chip producer and supplier. Its NAND flash memory chips take up one third of the global market.
