Chinese Tech Companies and Products at CES 2020
The world’s largest Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020 opened up in Las Vegas on January 7, with over 5000 companies from all over the world set to showcase the world’s most cutting-edge gadgets, new applications, and futuristic products.
5G, the most beloved topic at CES 2020, has enabled changes in artificial intelligence, smart chips, Internet of Things (IoT), autonomous driving and so on.

Here are a few highlights from the event so far.
DJI-backed Livox unveiled new liDAR tech to get into the autonomous driving game
DJI, the global leader in commercial unmanned aerial vehicles for aerial photography and videography, took a step into the self-driving space by introducing Livox, an independent company that is revolutionizing the lidar sensor industry. Backed by DJI’s experience in sensor innovation and hardware manufacturing, Livox introduced two new sensors that can be used in L3/L4 autonomous driving.
One, called Horizon, can scan areas within 260 meters; the other one, Tele-15, is suitable for long distance scanning. Both offered a new scanning method to deliver better sensing performance in more detail.
Livox Horize sells at 6,499 yuan ($935), starting from January 7, 2020. Tele-15 sells at 9,000 yuan ($1295) and shipment will be available from the second quarter of 2020.
By making the lidar technology easier and more affordable to integrate into products and applications, Livox has the potential to empower a broad range of applications from autonomous driving to smart cities, mapping, mobile robotics and more.
Apart from these two, DJI will be showcasing a full lineup of other products, including the new Mavic Mini, Osmo Action, Osmo Mobile 3, Ronin-SC as well as the Phantom 4 Pro V2.
Royole released smart writing pad RoWrite 2 and smart speaker Mirage
Royole, known for its flexible screens and making the first foldable phone, released the smart writing pad RoWrite 2 and Mirage, a smart speaker with a wraparound touch display at CES 2020.

The RoWrite 2 can be bended flexibly, thanks to the company’s foldable technologies. It sells at 799 yuan ($115), deliveries starting from March for Mainland China users. For overseas users, deliveries will start in April and prices are set at $129 or 129 euros.
Royole’s Mirage Smart Speaker has an 8-inch AMOLED “fully flexible” touch display that seems to cover most of the body of the device. Text messages, images and videos can be displayed clearly on the screen. With a front camera, the device also allows users to enjoy high quality video calls. The speaker will start selling in the U.S. and U.K. from the second quarter of the year, priced at $899 or 799 euros.
Self-driving company AutoX announced partnership with European car maker FCA
Chinese self-driving service provider AutoX announced collaboration with multinational auto maker Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) at CES 2020 to release the first ever self-driving taxi called RoboTaxi. They plan to land the project in cities such as Shenzhen and Shanghai.
Lenovo released the world’s first 5G laptop Yoga 5G
Yoga 5G, or Lenovo Flex 5G, is the first 5G laptop in the world produced by Chinese telecommunications giant Lenovo. The device will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8cx processor codenamed “Project Limitless” as well as Qualcomm’s X55 5G modem. It will support millimeter-wave and sub-6GHz 5G networks as well as LTE.
The Lenovo Yoga 5G is set to release this spring, starting at $1,499.
