Xiaomi’s 5G Gaming Flagship Black Shark 3 Debuts With Real Shoulder Triggers
Xiaomi’s gaming tech subsidiary Black Shark just launched its first 5G gaming flagship Black Shark 3 and Black Shark 3 Pro on March 3. Featuring physical button shoulder triggers, Black Shark 3 Pro does not only support a third-party controller, but it can become a controller itself in order to enhance the overall gaming experience.

Like most of the Android flagships this year, Black Shark 3 and Black Shark 3 Pro are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset. The devices also boast impressive charging capabilities, offering 65W charging via USB-C and 18W charging via a proprietary magnetic charging port on the back. The Black Shark 3 packs a 4,720mAh battery while the Pro model delivers a 5,000mAh battery.
The Black Shark 3 has a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED display, while the pro variant has a 7.1-inch 3120 x 1440 OLED display. Both devices have a 90Hz image refresh rate, a 270Hz touch sampling rate, and 24-millisecond latency.
The back of the Black Shark 3 has a trio of cameras, 64MP+13MP+5MP (main, ultra-wide, depth), and a 20MP camera up front. In addition, there’s a pair of front-facing speakers for stereo sound.
An 8GB RAM/128GB internal storage model (non-PRO) will start at 3,499 yuan ($500 USD) in China. The Black Shark 3 Pro starts at 4,699 yuan ($675 USD) for a version with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The models are currently only intended for the Chinese market and will be available globally soon.
