Smartisan Founder Luo Yonghao Partners with Chinese TikTok on E-commerce Livestreaming

China’s debt-ridden Smartisan Technology founder Luo Yonghao officially announced his exclusive partnership with Douyin, ByteDance’s domestic version of TikTok, on Thursday morning via Smartisan’s WeChat official account.

Luo said he will begin e-commerce livestreaming on April 1 at 8 pm Beijing time.

“We have lots of good and unique products with acceptable prices ready for our first e-commerce livestreaming,” Luo said. “I want to become the top salesman on Douyin.”

Earlier last week, Luo announced through his Weibo account that he is moving into the e-commerce livestreaming industry and is looking for partners.

“Although I may not be fit for selling lipsticks, I believe I could be the top salesman for many products,” Luo said on his Weibo on March 19. “All partners who want to promote their products are welcomed. We mainly focus on tech products, books, cultural products, groceries and household items. We will surprise you so please have your money ready.”

Following his announcement, Luo has received thousands of partnership inquiries, as the e-commerce livestreaming sector continues to attract attention. The efforts to further monetize’s China’s short video craze seems like a natural progression following the overwhelming success of products like Douyin and Kuaishou.
