Chinese mobile phone manufacturers, including Huawei, Xiaomi, Vivo, OPPO, etc. have expressed interest in the product and announced that they will strongly support it.
“5G Messages” is essentially an RCS service combining various media forms such as text, pictures, voice, and video. A familiar messaging app format born in 2008.
“5G Messages” is also compatible with 5G networks, as the name suggests, and packs functions similar to WeChat’s official accounts. With this app, China Mobile is apparently attempting to upgrade and transform the traditional short messaging format.
According to the app’s description on the Apple App Store, “5G Messages” is a communication software created by China Mobile based on international RCS standards to help users establish richer connections with friends.
