Huawei Joins Global Internet Security Network MANRS
Huawei officially became a founding member of the Equipment Vendor Program (EVP) in the Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security (MANRS) on Friday, aiming to boost global Internet security.
MANRS is a global project initiated by the Internet Society (ISOC). It is designed to address tricky issues such as internet route hijacking, route leakage and address spoofing through the cooperation among carriers, IXPs, CDN & Cloud providers, equipment vendors and policymakers. In this way, the network attempts to realize the goal of boosting internet security. MANRS’ EVP is a new program for equipment vendors, following the Operator Program, IXP Program and CDN & Cloud Vendor Program.
Andrei Robachevsky, Senior Director of Technology Programs for the ISOC, said, “Like other founding members of the program, Huawei’s participation demonstrates the importance of network equipment providers in internet routing security, and we hope this program could inspire more members of the internet infrastructure community to continue to make unremitting efforts for a more secure internet.”
Hank Chen, President of Huawei’s Router Domain, Data Communication Product Line, said: “Routing security is very important for Internet security, and routing equipment as the foundation of the internet plays a key role in it.”
In addition to Huawei, other founding members of the EVP for Internet Routing Security Specifications include Arista, Cisco, Juniper and Nokia.
