Huawei and BAIC Seal Cooperation on Co-Brand’s R&D
BAIC BJEV, the NEV arm of BAIC Group, signed a framework agreement with Huawei to deepen their strategic cooperation on the building of a co-brand under which ARCFOX-branded vehicles are to be equipped with Huawei’s HI solution, according to an announcement on Sunday by BAIC BluePark New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., the parent company of BAIC BJEV.
The new agreement was inked as a supplement to the pact both parties signed in January 2019 and will not affect the validity of the earlier deal, said BAIC BluePark.
Under the newly-signed agreement, the two parties will strengthen the R&D of all models under the co-brand and will jointly build an operation mechanism for the product development. Moreover, the two companies will step up their cooperation on intelligent-connected vehicle related businesses, co-conducting product development, testing and validation.
The two sides will co-formulate and implement the scheme regarding marketing channels, so as to realize the collaboration on the online and offline sales of the ARCFOX αS ·HI (Huawei Inside), a premium all-electric sedan they co-launched in mid-April in Shanghai, all before the end of 2021.
In addition to cooperation with Huawei, in June this year, BAIC Group’s EV brand ARCFOX partnered with Baidu to jointly release Apollo Moon, a new generation of robotaxis that are set to be mass-produced with a per unit manufacturing price of 480,000 yuan ($74,358). The two companies reached a new strategic cooperation agreement to roll out a fleet of 1,000 Apollo Moon robotaxis in three years.
