Tencent’s Two Major Business Units Experience Personnel Changes
Tencent issued an internal announcement about the adjustment of the positions of two of its vice presidents, Jiemian reported on Wednesday.
Yin Yu, Vice President of Tencent, was transferred to the Cloud and Smart Industry Group (CSIG) as the head of the department taking care of Tencent‘s overall strategy and planning in the field of smart education. Yin will no longer serve as the Head of Information Platform and Service Line under the Platform and Content Group (PCG).
Qie Xiaohu, who is currently Vice President of Tencent and joined the company in 2020, will take over as the head of Information Platform and Service Line while continuing to be responsible for PCG’s technology line and Sogou’s input method business.
On October 15th this year, Sogou was merged into Tencent. Tencent formally established an the Information Platform and Service Line under PCG, which is responsible for QQ browser, Kandian, internet search, literature, documents and other services.

Yin Yu joined Tencent in 2006 and has been responsible for QQ, Kandian, QQ browser and other business modules. He also contributed to the building of the company’s audio and video laboratory. In 2014, he further led the team to use technical tools to incubate Tencent Classroom, providing online teaching and learning services for educational institutions and users.
Qie Xiaohu used to be the global technical director of Google and Associate Dean of Google China Research Institute before serving as CTO of Xiaohongshu and ride-hailing platform DiDi in 2015 and 2018 respectively. In 2020, Qie joined Tencent and was responsible for PCG’s technology line. After Sogou’s merging in October this year, he was responsible for Sogou’s input method business.
