Huawei’s ‘Legions’ Win Major Orders, Promoting 5G in Industrial Scenarios
Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei announced on Wednesday that its Coal Mine Legion has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with National Energy Group Ningxia Coal Industry Co., Ltd. (Ningxia Coal Industry), under which the two sides will establish a partnership to promote the digital transformation of the coal and coal chemical industries. Prior to this, Huawei’s Customs and Port Legion and its Smart Highway Legion have successively won other orders.
Huawei said at the signing ceremony with Ningxia Coal Industry that the firm will give full play to its advanced technology, market and brand leading advantages in the digital transformation of the industry, and empower Ningxia Coal Industry in the fields of information infrastructure, cloud computing, big data, the internet of things, industrial internet, smart mine projects, smart factories, intelligent manufacturing, personnel training and joint innovation, so as to help the company achieve high-quality development.
According to public information, Huawei’s Coal Mine Legion is the first of its kind established by Huawei. At the end of 2020, after Huawei founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei visited coal mines and investigated intelligent mine projects, he decided to learn from Google in building a legion, bringing together scientists and experts of basic science, product, engineering, sales and delivery in one department to rapidly promote the digital and intelligent transformation of the coal industry.
In April this year, Huawei completed the formation of its Coal Mine Legion. Since then, Huawei and Shenhua Shendong Coal Group have signed a strategic cooperation agreement, unveiled a joint innovation center, and released the first industrial internet operating system, namely the Harmony-OS for Mining, in September.
