Yutong and SPIC Hydrogen Energy to Deliver 100 Hydrogen Energy Buses to Serve Beijing Winter Olympics
Thirty hydrogen fuel cell buses that were jointly developed by Yutong Group and SPIC Hydrogen Energy Co., Ltd. were officially delivered on Friday. Both parties plan to deliver a total of 100 buses this year to serve the Yanqing District of Beijing throughout the 2022 Winter Olympics.
The first batch of 30 vehicles delivered this time are all 11.46-meter hydrogen fuel buses, which are equipped with imported airbags, luxury seats, and air conditioners.
Yutong has been developing fuel cell buses since 2009 and, to date, has completed the development of three generations of fuel cell buses. Up to now, Yutong’s fuel cell buses have accumulated more than 27.3 million kilometers of operation.
“The two sides will take this as a starting point to further deepen cooperation in the field of transportation, give full play to Yutong’s advantages in vehicle brand and product quality, and our advantages in hydrogen energy technology,” said Zhang Yinguang, CEO of SPIC Hydrogen Energy.
In 2021, under the background of the strategic goal of carbon neutrality and peak carbon dioxide emissions, China has issued a number of policies to encourage and support the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. At present, more than 48 cities in China have issued policies to promote the development of the hydrogen energy industry.
