Following Regulation, Tencent’s Apps Begin to Resume Updating
On Friday, QQ Music’s iOS version began to allow upgrades to version 11.0.5 through the app store. The development follows China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s (MIIT) introduction of new restrictions on Tencent in November this year.
On November 24, the MIIT required Tencent to conduct technical inspections for new apps that are about to be released and for updated versions of existing apps. Following the tests, the products may enter the market as usual.
The move comes after regulators found several apps made by Tencent violated data protection rules on a number of occasions this year.
