The newly released ASUS ROG gaming phone uses a combination of glass and metal materials on the back: most of the back cover is made of glass while the heat dissipation area is made of metal. The ROG logo on the back supports backlight display, a feature that displays different colors like a mini light show after gaming mode is switched on.
As for its configurations, it is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip, Adreno 630 GPU, a 6.0-inch 18:9 AMOLED display with a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels. It also comes with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage (with two other options of 128GB and 256GB of storage), 8 MP + 12 MP rear-facing dual cameras, dual front-facing stereo speakers, and a battery capacity of 4000mAh.
The biggest highlight of the ROG gaming phone is that the phone has a 2.96GHz CPU, which is higher than the usual 2.8GHz for other Snapdragron 845 processors, making it the world’s first flagship 2.96GHz Snapdragon 845.
In addition to the phone, ROG also released a variety of accessories to meet the needs of gamers. These accessories include an exclusive raditor equipped with RGB LED lights, a gamepad that can latch on to the phone, a foldable TwinView Dock that offers an extra screen and a 6000mAh extended battery; and a Mobile Desktop Dock, which allows users to connect the ROG phone to an external 4K UHD monitor, keyboard or mouse.
ASUS has not announced the price and the release date of the phone. To be in line with ROG’s high-end positioning, however, its price is expected to exceed 5,000 yuan ($780).
