China Carries Out 2022’s First Successful Satellite Launch

At 10:35 a.m. on Monday, China successfully launched a satellite into orbit from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in the northern province of Shanxi. This mission represents the 406th flight in the country’s Long March rocket series.

According to the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), the Long March 2-D carrier rocket carrying out this mission is a normal temperature liquid two-stage carrier rocket. It has the ability to launch multiple types of satellites with different orbit requirements.

The new satellite will mainly be used to carry out space environment detection and related technical tests. According to the special requirements of satellite interface, this Long March 2-D rocket adopts a satellite-rocket separation device with a diameter of two meters for the first time.

This year, the CASC plans to conduct more than 40 space launch missions. Among them, the Long March 2-D rockets are planned to be launched more than 15 times, which is expected to set a record for the most annual launches of this type of rocket.
