Tencent Music Entertainment Reshuffles, Involving QQ Music and WeSing
On Friday, Chinese media outlet Jiemian News reported that Tencent Music Entertainment Group (TME) issued an announcement on Thursday to adjust the organizational structure of two of its business units, QQ Music and WeSing.
A director of Tencent Music revealed that most business managers had been informed of the adjustment at the beginning of this month, but the final appointment would be announced at QQ Music’s annual meeting.
Among them, Ji Mingzhong was promoted to the General Manager of the Community Product Department of QQ Music, and the General Manager of the Interactive Video Department, reporting directly to Liang Zhu, CEO of TME.
Ji Mingzhong has previously been the head of WeSing under QQ Music. At present, his task at the helm of the interactive video department is to link the resources of QQ Music’s live-streaming and WeSing.
Fu Hongcheng was promoted to General Manager of Tencent Music Infrastructure Department, and General Manager of Platform Product Department of QQ Music, also reporting directly to Liang Zhu.
Fu Hongcheng was the one who set up TME’s system from scratch and is mainly responsible for the building up of the music library, recommendations, search, and security.
Liang Yunheng was promoted to General Manager of TME Enterprise Development Department, and General Manager of the List and Data Product Center, reporting to TME’s Chairman Cussion Pang.
In terms of structural adjustment, a new content operation center was established under QQ Music which is mainly responsible for the operation of copyright and musician management. In addition, QQ Music’s product operations center was renamed as platform operations center.
