Chinese media cited reports by Taiwanese security company, Fubon Securities who claims that there will be three new iPhone models released this fall. They are supposedly a second generation iPhone X with a 5.8-inch OLED display, a 6.5-inch “Plus” version of the iPhone X also with OLED display, and another 6.1-inch LCD iPhone.
Fubon Securities also claims that Foxconn, who recently became listed in China, will manufacture almost all of the second generation iPhone X models, 90% of the iPhone X Plus models, and 75% of the LCD versions. Apple will also be working with another Taiwanese electronics manufacturing company, Pegatron.
Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who recently left KGI Securities, has been making predictions as early as late April. He forecasts that the LCD version will be sold under $700 while Katy L. Huberty, managing director of research at Morgan Stanley, predicts that the same model will cost at least $699 too.
Fubon Securities claims that the same model will cost around $799. It uses similar materials to the iPhone 8 with a production cost of approximately $275.
While the iPhone X is currently only available in two colors – Space Gray and Silver, Kuo has predicted that at least two of the new models will be available in additional colors.
