AI² Robotics has launched “ZhiCube,” a modular service space powered by its humanoid robots. The company plans to deploy 1,000 units across China within three years as part of its intelligent urban infrastructure strategy.

General-purpose robotics company AI² Robotics announced on December 29 the launch of ZhiCube, described as the world’s first modular embodied AI service space. The concept debuted simultaneously in Beijing and Shenzhen, with initial deployments at Chaoyang Park in Beijing and MixC Mall in Shenzhen.

ZhiCube is a new type of service unit that places AI² Robotics’ proprietary AlphaBot 2 humanoid robot inside a purpose-built, modular environment. The system currently offers four independent functional modules—coffee, ice cream, entertainment, and retail—which can be freely combined depending on the needs of commercial districts, tourist attractions, or mixed-use venues. In the coffee module, for example, the robot can autonomously complete the full process of preparing multiple coffee beverages.

At the core of ZhiCube is a human–robot collaborative operating model and system-level intelligence. Powered by the company’s full-body embodied large model GOVLA, the robot can perceive its environment, understand tasks, and dynamically switch roles. During daily operations, the system automatically adjusts robot collaboration strategies based on foot traffic: robots divide labor between service and customer attraction during off-peak hours, collaborate on high-load tasks during peak periods, and in complex scenarios—such as specialty coffee—human staff focus on creativity while robots handle standardized execution.

AI² Robotics said it plans to deploy 1,000 ZhiCube units nationwide over the next three years, covering commercial, cultural, and tourism scenarios. The company aims to position ZhiCube as a replicable, deployable urban intelligent infrastructure unit, supported by long-term accumulation across models, hardware, and real-world scenarios. This includes core components with over 50,000 hours of failure-free operation, in-house production lines ensuring consistency, and continuous data feedback from more than a dozen industries including industrial and public services.
