Alibaba Launches Conversational AI Search Engine Accio, Open to Global Merchants

Alibaba has launched a conversational AI search engine Accio overseas, targeting global merchants.

The main feature of Accio is a dialogue box, with a product form similar to the AI search engine Perplexity, positioning itself as a personal purchasing agent.

After users input their needs, it filters through information such as suppliers, customization options, prices, retail sales at terminals, customer reviews and outputs matching merchants and products.

Previously some capabilities of Accio have been quietly launched in the ‘Find Factories’ module on Alibaba International site. An Alibaba overseas personnel mentioned that during trial operation phase there was an increase in conversion rate for user searches leading to purchases by 20% – 30%. By the day of its launch, Accio’s coverage of goods had expanded to billions.

Currently Accio’s PC and web versions are online covering five languages: English, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese. The mobile version is still under development.
