Amap’s “World Map” Goes Live
Recently, at the departure ceremony of the “Belt and Road Global Journey” international segment, Amap announced the official launch of its product “World Map”. This product utilizes the global positioning capability of the Beidou satellite navigation system to provide overseas route planning and navigation services. It can also illuminate the countries and cities that users pass through based on trip location records.
Amap President Liu Zhenfei said that the current goal is to create “a world map for Chinese people” to assist Chinese users in navigating the world and help Chinese industries go global. In the future, they hope to go even further and become “a world map for everyone,” transforming Amap, based on cutting-edge technology from China, into a global product that serves people worldwide and showcases Chinese technology on a global scale.
Amap’s official launch of the Global Map cannot be separated from the global positioning capability of the Beidou system. According to reports, with the guidance and support of China Satellite Navigation System Management Office, Amap has successively launched innovative services such as lane-level navigation, traffic light countdown, and blind spot collision warning in recent years, promoting the inclusive application of the Beidou system in civilian travel field. Currently, Amap has already utilized Beidou satellites for daily positioning over 336 billion times.

On the recently unveiled Amap World Map, it is now possible to plan and navigate routes overseas. Just like in domestic areas, users only need to set their starting point and destination on the app to obtain a complete and reasonable driving or walking route plan. They can also estimate arrival time and distance in advance, and with a single click, they can choose navigation guidance to their destination.
According to statistics, as of September 2nd, Amap World Map has been launched in over 200 countries and regions worldwide.
