Autoflight Receives Hundreds of Millions of Dollars in Exclusive Investment from CATL

On August 3, it was reported that CATL and Autoflight signed a strategic investment and cooperation agreement, with CATL exclusively investing hundreds of millions of dollars in Autoflight (note: the specific amount has not been announced yet).

Autoflight stated that it will work closely with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL) to jointly dedicate efforts to the research and development of eVTOL aircraft batteries. Both parties will leverage their respective resources and technological advantages, focusing on enhancing the energy density and performance of eVTOL batteries to support longer flight distances and higher payload capacities, while also achieving significant improvements in safety and stability.

Following the completion of this financing, Autoflight will continue to focus on in-depth research and widespread application of eVTOL technology, further enhancing the safety and reliability of aerial logistics and air travel solutions. The company will accelerate the development and certification process for its manned model, the PROSPERITY.

At the beginning of this month, the PROSPERITY eVTOL under Autoflight completed its first cross-river flight over the Yangtze River. It took off from the Nanjing UAV base located in the Pukou District of Nanjing, flew across the Yangtze River, circled along the river, and returned to the base, covering a distance of 25 kilometers and taking 10 minutes for the round trip. This flight by Autoflight marked the first cross-river flight of a ton-level eVTOL.

Take the example of the distance from the Nanjing UAV base to the Yuzui Wetland Park on the opposite shore, while the straight-line distance between the two locations is not long, the ground distance is as much as 20 kilometers and takes 25 minutes. In contrast, the direct flight via PROSPERITY only takes 5 minutes for a one-way trip, resulting in an 80% time saving.
