Baidu Fully Opens Robotaxi Service in Changsha
Baidu announced that it will fully open the Apollo Robotaxi service to ordinary customers in Changsha. Users will be able to hail autonomous taxis for free through the Baidu Map app and Baidu’s “Dutaxi” app. Earlier, residents of Changsha had to submit a test ride application through Apollo’s official website for a chance to test one of the taxis.

Baidu’s Apollo Robotaxis will operate within a range of 130 square kilometers in Changsha. The driving route will cover various residential and commercial leisure areas as well as industrial parks.
Apart from Changsha, Baidu Apollo is currently conducting unmanned self-driving tests in Beijing, Cangzhou and other places. Changsha is the first city in China where the Robotaxi service is openly available to ordinary residents.
In June last year, Baidu Apollo obtained 45 man-carrying test licenses from the Changsha Municipal Government. On September 26, the Changsha Open Road Intelligent Driving Demonstration Zone was officially opened. Appolo has since conducted more than 10,000 safe passenger trips in the zone.
