Blizzard President: Do Everything to Reopen Chinese Servers ASAP

On July 17th, the suspension of operation for the Chinese servers of 7 Blizzard games, including World of Warcraft, has reached 175 days, approaching half a year. Mike Ybarra, President of Blizzard, was also asked about the situation regarding the Chinese servers during a live stream on July 15th.

During the live broadcast, a netizen asked if the Chinese servers could return within this year. Mike Ybarra responded, “I really want the Chinese servers to return as soon as possible. Trust me, I will do everything I can to make that happen.”

It is worth mentioning that Mike Ybarra had been tight-lipped about the issue of the Chinese server and also evaded similar questions raised by others.

Although Mike Ybarra responded, he did not mention a specific timeframe, only providing a comforting response. Despite players’ desire for games like Warcraft to return to domestic servers, the timing of their return will depend on a series of complex issues such as negotiations with Chinese domestic distributors and relevant approvals, which cannot be easily resolved in the short term.
