BYD and Daimler’s JV to Launch Luxury MPV Denza D9 on May 16
Denza, a joint venture between Chinese automaker BYD and German high-end automaker Daimler AG, announced on Wednesday that it will hold a new product launch on May 16, during which it will unveil its first high-end multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), the Denza D9.
Promotional materials show that the Denza D9 will come with both EV and DM power solutions, and both all-wheel-drive and two-wheel-drive variants. It is estimated that the starting price will be about 450,000 yuan ($66,935), and it adopts a large seven-seat space layout. It supports a comprehensive cruising range of over 1,000 kilometers with a 1.5T hybrid system. This car also has a variety of driving modes, including power-saving, ordinary, sports and snow.
Official posters indicate that Denza’s latest MPV adopts a big air intake grille design in the front, integrated with the headlights. Standard MPV layout is adopted on the side of the car body, and the length of the whole car reaches about 5.2 meters. In addition, a prominent and smooth waistline on the side of the car runs through the front to the rear, sketching the rich side design of the vehicle. Full-width LED taillights are used on the car, delivering a highly recognizable shape.
