BYD and DJI Announce the Launch Event for Collaborative Intelligent Car-Borne Drone System
BYD Auto announced on Thursday that it will jointly launch the BYD intelligent car-borne drone system with DJI Innovations on March 2. The first model equipped with a car-borne drone is the Yangwang U8 Off-road Player Edition, and several new cars from various brands – Tengshi N9, Fangcheng Bao Titanium 3, BYD Tang L, BYD Sea Lion 07 DM-i, etc., have also applied for versions equipped with car-borne drones, which can meet personalized usage needs such as shooting and exploring in outdoor scenes.
At the BYD Dream Day event in 2024, BYD and DJI jointly created the world’s first car-integrated drone, pioneering an integrated vehicle-grade drone bay that supports intelligent storage, automatic battery replacement, and charging management. It was officially stated that the function truly achieves one-button take-off and landing, combined with the industry-leading drone sensor chain, to achieve high-definition, high-frame-rate, low-latency image transmission.
In terms of daily travel, when encountering traffic congestion, car owners can send out car-borne drones for high-altitude reconnaissance, understand the road conditions ahead in advance, plan a better driving route, and avoid wasting time in congested sections.
In emergency rescue scenarios, car-borne drones can also play a huge role. When encountering natural disasters and road blockages, drones can quickly rise to the sky, go to the disaster area for situation reconnaissance, and transmit the scene images in real time, providing key information for rescuers to formulate rescue plans.
From a technical point of view, BYD’s intelligent cockpit system and DJI drones achieve seamless connection, and drivers can easily control drone flight and shooting in the car. Moreover, the storage and charging of the car-borne drone are completed in the car, which is convenient and efficient. This innovative combination not only enhances the functionality of the car, but also finds new application scenarios for drones.
