BYD has announced its "Ocean 8 Series Dual Flagships" — the Seal 08 sedan and Sealion 08 SUV — both slated for debut in Q1 2026. This move expands its Ocean series lineup following the Ocean-S concept unveiled earlier, as BYD strengthens its push into the premium electric vehicle market.
On December 15, at the "Rushing Towards 2025" BYD Ocean Day user event celebrating the brand's four-year anniversary, BYD officially unveiled its "Ocean 8 Series Dual Flagships"—the Seal 08 sedan and the Sealion 08 SUV. Both models are set to debut in the first quarter of 2026.
For context, during the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show in April, BYD revealed two concept cars: the Dynasty-D and the Ocean-S.
The BYD Dynasty-D is a full-size, D-segment concept SUV, featuring an all-new "three-dimensional flying eaves dragon whisker" design. It is equipped with a 2.4-meter "world’s longest integrated lighting strip," a 3D sculpted Chinese knot rear light, and 23-inch wheels. The production version of the Dynasty-D is expected to enter the 400,000-yuan price range, offering a 5.3-meter, full-size SUV for the market.
Meanwhile, the BYD Ocean-S is a flagship concept car for the Ocean series, showcasing a new generation of marine-inspired aesthetics.
