BYD Delivers 29 Electric Double-Decker Buses to Abellio London
Shenzhen-based automaker BYD announced the successful delivery of 29 electric double-decker buses to Abellio London on Tuesday. The vehicles were jointly built by BYD and Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL), the UK’s leading producer of electric buses, and currently serve route 63 operated by Transport for London (TfL).
BYD said that the pure electric double-decker buses delivered this time have innovative features, such as a skylight on the upper deck, new seat design and entertainment equipment. In addition, the vehicles meet the travel needs of groups with special requirements, with a larger wheelchair and buggy area.
These vehicles are powered by BYD’s iron-phosphate battery technology, providing a longer driving range and optimized battery life. They also benefit from BYD’s innovative chassis, incorporating a “6-in-one controller’ integrating the entire ecosystem of the bus for improved reliability.
Frank Thorpe, Managing Director of BYD UK, said: “We are proud to bring our world-leading expertise in batteries and integrated powerchain technology to our successful electric bus venture in the UK with ADL, and we will continue to support operators such as TfL and Abellio in the long-term development of clean, safe and environmentally friendly pure electric green transportation.”
