Chinese EV and battery maker BYD has completed the Norwegian listing of its Tang EV and held a first car delivery event in Oslo on August 12.
The Shenzhen-based firm’s Tang EV is equipped with blade batteries holding a capacity of 86.4 kWh, allowing for a cruising range between 505km and 565km. The subsidized price of the EV in China is 279,500-314,800 yuan ($43,152-48,602), while the price of the car in the Norwegian market is 599,900 Norwegian kroner ($68,105).
The company currently cooperates with RSA, a leading distributor in Scandinavia, to provide services such as marketing, sales, after-sales and parts supply for local consumers.
This delivery marks the official landing of BYD’s passenger car business in the Norwegian market. Pere Brugal, BYD’s European sales director, added: “The first batch of 100 units arrived in Norway and the first car delivery is completed today, marking a important step for BYD’s Norway strategy and its entire European passenger car plan.”
Up to now, BYD has shipped more than 600 Tang EVs to Norway, with the first batch of 100 sets arriving at the end of July. The EV maker plans to deliver a total of 1,500 cars to the country in 2021.
In July this year, BYD’s sales of new energy passenger cars soared by 262.7% year-on-year to reach 50,057 units, setting a new record for BYD’s own monthly sales. It also marked a record high for China’s monthly sales of new energy passenger cars.
In addition to BYD, NIO Inc., Xpeng Motors and Aiways Automobile are also actively deploying operations in overseas markets.
