BYD Denies Launching Electric Motorcycles and Electric Bicycles
On May 6th, Li Yunfei, General Manager of the Brand and Public Relations Department of BYD Group, stated that a series of spliced and synthesized videos and articles have been circulating online recently, spreading information such as “BYD is going to launch electric motorcycles,” “BYD’s first motorcycle debut,” “BYD producing electric bicycles,” which has attracted attention from netizens. Li Yunfei responded to the above statements: all are false news.
Some self-media accounts have posted photos claiming to be ‘BYD pedal motorcycles,’ with the caption ‘It’s not that you can’t afford a BYD car, but that BYD pedal motorcycles offer better value for money.’ In fact, there are many automotive companies currently involved in the motorcycle business, such as Geely (GMMOTOR, QJMOTOR, etc.) and Lifan, which started with motorcycle businesses. There are also companies like Wuling and Great Wall that have expanded from the automotive field to the motorcycle industry.
During this year’s Beijing Auto Show, Great Wall Motors officially announced its entry into the motorcycle market. Its motorcycle brand “Great Wall Soul Motorcycle” has also been launched on official social media platforms. The motorcycles are positioned as “soulful big toys.” Great Wall Soul will be equipped with a “globally unique” horizontally opposed 8-cylinder engine. From the teaser content, it can be seen that Great Wall’s first motorcycle is expected to be a heavy-duty bike with a very imposing appearance.
