BYD Discloses Plans for New Global Research and Development Cente
Shenzhen’s Planning and Natural Resources Bureau recently unveiled details about the upcoming global research and development center for BYD, a major player in the automobile and renewable energy industry. The center, set to be located in the city’s Longgang District, will occupy a substantial area of approximately 650,000 square meters.
The project, estimated to cost around 20 billion RMB, is an ambitious endeavor for BYD. The company plans to construct over 3.3 million square meters of facilities, a testament to its commitment to advancing its research capabilities and fostering innovation.
The new R&D center is designed to be a multifunctional space, combining administrative offices, research and development facilities, and living accommodations. This integrated approach aims to create an environment that encourages collaboration and innovation.
The center will feature more than 50 state-of-the-art technology laboratories. These will include a global modeling center, a micro-nano optics laboratory, and a high polymer materials laboratory, among others. The plan also includes the establishment of 11 research institutes focusing on various areas such as automotive engineering, product planning, new automotive technologies, and basic science research.
