BYD Han DM-i and Tang DM-i Revealed, Expected Launch in Early 2022
Recently, some digital bloggers released a copy of the operating conditions and battery life specifications of the 2022 BYD Han DM-i and Tang DM-i. Both cars are expected to be launched in the first half of 2022.
BYD has three hybrid models: DM, DM-i and DM-p. The latest information made available includes 5 models.
There are two models of the Han DM-i. Under New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) operating conditions, the pure electric battery life is 121km (battery power is 18.3 kWh) and 242km (battery power is 37.6 kWh), and the fuel consumption is 4.2L and 4.3L respectively.
The Han DM-p only has one model. Under NEDC operating conditions, the pure electric battery life is 202km (the battery power is 37.6 kWh), and the fuel consumption is 5.3L.
The Tang DM-i will add a new model with a longer range. Under NEDC operating conditions, the pure electric range will reach 252km (battery power is 45.8 kWh), and the fuel consumption is 5.6L. The Tang DM-p has a pure electric range of 215km (45.8kWh battery) and a 6.5L fuel consumption under NEDC conditions.
The entry price of the current Tang DM-i 112km is 199,800 yuan ($31,442.79). According to the current model, the selling price of the new Tang DM-i 252km version is expected to be between 240,000 yuan and 250,000 yuan.

The current Han DM 4WD version is priced at 219,800-239,800 yuan, and the Han DM-i 121km 2WD version may be priced at over 190,000 yuan. It is speculated that the Han DM-i 242km 2WD version may be priced at over 200,000 yuan while the Han DM-p 202km 4WD version is expected to be priced at about 220,000 yuan.
The latest official sales data of 2021 shows that the sales volume of BYD’s new energy vehicles reached 93,800 units in December alone, with a total annual sales volume of 603,800 units, a 218.3% jump year-on-year.
