BYD Launches 2022 Flagship Han EV Series

Shenzhen-based automaker BYD unveiled four new models within its 2022 Han EV Series on Sunday – namely, the Han Genesis Version, the limited edition Han Jade Green, the Han DM-i and the Han DM-p.

The BYD Han DM-i has four editions, priced from 215,800 yuan to 289,800 yuan ($33,880 -$45,498). Meanwhile, the Han DM-p sells at 319,800 yuan ($50,208) the Han EV Genesis Version is priced at 269,800 yuan to 288,600 yuan ($42,358-$45,310), and the Han EV Jade Green sells at 329,800 yuan ($51,778).

The series, led by BYD’s global design director Wolfgang Egger, features in-depth details on the front face and taillights, making it more fashionable and sporty overall. All these four models continue BYD’s signature “Dragon Face” design. The Han series taillights are replaced by a brand-new Chinese knotting shape design.

In terms of performance, the comprehensive maximum torque of the Han EV Genesis Version’s system is as high as 700 N • m, and its acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.9 seconds. As for battery life, with a wide temperature range, high-efficiency heat pump air conditioner, and direct cooling and heating technology, the duration of the model with Certification in Long-Term Care is as far as 715km. In terms of charging rate, a 10-minute charge can add up to 150km in range, and it can increase from 30% to 80% capacity in 30 minutes.

BYD also launched the limited edition Han Jade Green, which is available in many exclusive colors and matching interior decor.

The Han DM-i model is equipped with core components such as the “Xiaoyun” plug-in special turbocharger 1.5 Ti high-efficiency engine with thermal efficiency as high as 40.12%, an EHS electric hybrid system, a DM-i exclusive hybrid special power blade battery, and more. Under New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) standards, the fuel consumption is as low as 4.2L per 100 km, the comprehensive cruising range of can reach up to 1300km, and the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 7.9 seconds. At the same time, the top Han DM-i model has NEDC 242km ultra long pure electric endurance, supplemented by a 80kW fast charger.

The Han DM-p model is equipped with front and rear motors capable of a comprehensive maximum power of 360kW and a maximum torque of 675 N • m. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. In addition, its NEDC energy consumption per 100 km is only 5.2L, and its pure electric endurance is as high as 202km.

In terms of intelligence, the Han series has also been comprehensively upgraded. The DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system on it is equipped with up to 24 sensing elements, adding functions such as highway driving assistance, emergency lane maintenance assisting, yielding to pedestrians, and more. The new Han family vehicles are all equipped with the DiLink 4.0 (5G) intelligent network connection system, which supports Over-the-Air Technology (OTA) upgrading the whole car remotely.

To ensure delivery, BYD’s Fuzhou Industrial Park – the firm’s fifth vehicle base in China – will officially enter mass production on April 15. This year, BYD expects to establish three new factories to expand its production capacity.
