BYD Launches D1 Pure Electric MPV Surpasses Version
On June 13th, it was announced that the BYD pure electric MPV model D1 has been launched and is priced at RMB 1.698 million (USD 24,000).
The BYD D1 was originally designed as a vehicle for ride-hailing services, but starting from 2022 it will be sold to individual customers. It features a completely different exterior design compared to other BYD models, with sleek and simple body lines, a closed grille and matrix-style LED headlights at the front, electric sliding doors and hidden door handles on the sides, and taillights with a through-type design at the rear. The car measures 4390/1850/1650 millimeters in length, width and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2800 millimeters.
The interior design of the BYD D1 surpasses version is simple, and the center console is equipped with a suspended LCD screen that supports exclusive interfaces for Didi drivers and one-click alarm function. The position of the auxiliary instrument panel is equipped with a knob-type shift mechanism and physical buttons for easy operation.

In addition, the car also provides various humanized configurations, such as higher comfort for the driver’s seat, fully foldable front passenger seat, cup holders and charging ports for rear passengers to enjoy. However, compared to the previously sold leading version, the surpassing version cancels some configurations such as driving recorder, in-car camera, driver’s lumbar support and heated rear seats.
The BYD D1 Surpasses version is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 100 kW and peak torque of 180 Nm. It has a top speed of 130 km/h and is paired with a 53.6 kWh lithium iron phosphate blade battery, providing an NEDC comprehensive range of 418 km.
