BYD to Open Electric Truck Factory in Canada

BYD announced it would build an electric truck factory in Canada, which will be its first electric car assembly plant in Canada. The electric truck plant is scheduled to be put into operation next year.

The factory will employ 40 employees in the initial period, and the number of employees will increase as production expands. Components and technologies needed for pre-production of the plant will be imported from China, but most raw materials will be purchased locally.

BYD’s new US plant started operation in October, becoming the first Chinese-owned bus factory in the US and the largest electric bus plant in North America. BYD is now accelerating its overseas presence.

In addition to the US factory, BYD has established bus production bases in Brazil, Hungary and France, and it has exported tens of thousands of electric buses to Japan, the UK, Australia and more than a dozen countries and regions.
